Daily Reflection: Jesus, our great provider

October 10, 2013

Jesus our ProviderAsk you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Luke 11:5-13

Sing with me: “He’s a great provider. A great provider! He’s a great provider. A great provider! He will surely provide for me and provide for you.” Yes, there is no other person we are referring to, we are referring to JESUS Christ of Nazareth, the Most generous man in heaven and on earth. He is our provider. He is our Benefactor, our sponsor and our Redeemer.

Child of God, do you know that Jesus cannot refuse you anything?  Do you know that Jesus is ever ready to answer your prayers? Do even know that Jesus can never be bored with your request. He wants you to keep praying until something happens. As you continue to pray, something must surely happen. That is why he used a parable to show that your persistence in prayer will attract God’s favour.

Child of God, Jesus wants to hear from you. His number is ever available. Call him anytime and any day he will surely answer you. In today’s Gospel he says, “And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” What are you waiting for? try calling JESUS in prayer.

The Igbo people have an adage that says, “ihe nkita ji eso onye afo ukwu bu ma oyuhayu ogbo-agbo.” Meaning the dog follows a pot bellied man because something good must surely come out of his stomach.” Jesus is our Big man. We are following him because we know something good must surely come from him. He is our provider.

Child of God, I want to announce to you that you have a provider. Jesus is your provider. He provides for all your needs both spiritual needs and material needs. He wants the best for you. He cannot deceive you. That is why he asks in today’s Gospel, “What father among you would hand his son a snake when he asks for a fish?”

If human beings, who are heartless, could provide for their children; how much more our loving and caring Father? if human being could provide for their own children how much more the God who gave His only begotten Son out of love for sinful humanity. Whatsoever you ask God to do for you (so long as it is not sinful and harmful to you); He must surely do it; especially if you are in a covenantal relationship with God.

Our Lord Jesus Christ even said, “The Father in heaven will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?” The Holy Spirit is the highest gift we can receive from God. If you possess the Holy Spirit you will lack nothing. With the Holy Spirit you are covered. I pray that God should bless you with the gift of the Holy Spirit; may He provide you with all your needs! May He answer all your prayers! And may He grant your deepest heart desire, in Jesus name – Amen!

Prayer Point:

  • Thank for sending us a Saviour that provides for all our needs
  • Thank him for all the promises he has made that our prayers will be answered
  • Pray against the spirit of failure and disappointment.
  • Ask God to provide for your needs as He has promised through Jesus Christ
  • Ask God to provide for the needy.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father King of glory, you are our great provider; you loved us so much that you gave your only begotten Son to free us from bondage. Almighty God and Father if you could give your only Son to die for us then there is nothing you cannot do for us. You are our great provider. May you continue to provide for the poor and the needy! And may you continue to answer our prayers in Jesus name – Amen!
